DRSC at ADRC
The DRSC will be represented at the fly meeting this year by myself (S. Mohr, DRSC Director) and bioinformatician Claire Hu.
Please feel free to email me if you'd like to set up a time to meet for a confidential talk about your screening plans.
I will also be presenting in the Techniques and Genomics session (Platform #133, Mohr et al. Application of High-Content Imaging to Genome-Scale Interrogations of the Nucleus).
Claire will be presenting a poster in the human disease category on identification of orthologs of fly genes and matching fly genes to human diseases (Poster #452B, Hu et al. DIOPT, the DRSC Integrative Ortholog Prediction Tool). Please drop by and welcome Claire to her first fly conference!
The Transgenic RNAi Project (TRiP) will also be represented at the meeting. Check out back-to-back posters #952A and 951C to see what's new with the in vivo side of things.

Meeting Announcement: Brains in Spain
Just saw this announcement so I thought I'd pass it along: ESF-EMBO's Functional Neurobiology in Minibrains: From Flies to Robots and Back Again will be happening in the autumn. Website indicates that a limited number of travel grants are available for students and early-career researchers. Participation by applicants only and the deadline to apply is in August.

Live and In Person!
Myself and co-organizers L. Perkins, M. Boutros and K. Keleman are presenting a workshop in the Friday afternoon workshop session at the 51st ADRC in D.C. this week.
The lineup:
RNAi screening in cells: S. Mohr, D. Sims (FLIGHT), M. Boutros
RNAi screening in vivo: K. Keleman, F. Schnorrer, L. Perkins
Q&A to follow
The emphasis will be on available resources. We have prepared a handout of information about various resources (around the globe and online) for doing Drosophila RNAi in cells and in vivo. If we have left over copies, we will make them available at the registration desk, near the posters, or another obvious and appropriate location after the workshop.
Hope to see you there!
