New Editorial & Report: Phagocytosis of Bacteria

On my desk this morning? A review by Flannagan and Grinstein on the use of knockdown approaches in Drosophila and zebrafish to study phagocytosis of bacteria. The original article is Ulvila et al. (2011). Info on both below.

A small, focused Drosophila RNAi screen and another that went genome-wide.
Both papers are related to host cell-pathogen interactions.

Breaking News: NF-kappa-B Genome-wide Drosophila cell RNAi screen

What's on my desk to read today? A report of a genome-wide fly RNAi screen designed to query the NF kappa B pathway. Includes follow-up studies in zebrafish using morpholinos to knock down gene function in that organism.
